hey guys, my mum has just bought a citroen c3, but the key is a bit knackered. its one on the fold away jobbies like this but what do i need to do to get a new one as far as re coding goes? im guessing i can buy a blank one of those keys to get cut. but its the recoding thats bugging me, will i have to pay citroen 5 million billion quid? cheers guys

Yeah, much the same with every modern car key mate. The anti-theft devices built into cars nawadays are pretty sophisticated, which is why a thief has to rob the key in order to make off with the car....

 

....Yes, it makes keys (and the associated labour to code them) more expensive; but I'd rather that than have the car knicked!

well according to the news they are re-calling all c3's anyway cos if u push on n/s floor you apply the brakes

although i do believe its only newer cars.

 

apparently they re-calling 20,000 in uk

Have a shufty through the local yellow pages/thompson etc and find a locksmith.We use an independant guy at work and is A LOT cheaper than the stealers!!:wink:

I fixed my girlfriend's C5 key by buying a new case on ebay and swapping the gubbins over... you can buy blades too if you need them; as long as your key still works the car, shouldn't be a problem.
