I am aware there is a difference between series 1 and 2 cars, are their other variants too ?

 

I have a JDM series 4 I believe (95) can I straight swap clocks from a series 2 UK or is it all different connectors/fittings ?

Different connectors iirc, I think your safe to change them up to S4 then it's plug change as the S4 tt's don't have the boost gauge

mate, i have had an absolute mare with this very thing, stating the obvious , clocks are different between manual and Automatic, ( as in power etc etc,) my clocks also had cruise control lights and was an airbag model, so yes there are a lot of differences between them apart from the connectors on the back, in my opinion a bitch to sort out. but if you want to chat then bell me 07929159828, i also have numerous bits that you can have ( not buy) if it helps you to build up a set of working clocks.

I was just looking at options to convert my jap clocks to mph, looks like a converter is the best bet then, I understand the odometer will still read kmh with a converter module ? but not too worried about that.

what does the current face read in ???? MPH or KPH , what does the dial read up to ????

i am not able to comment on thats specifically, what i can tell you is i put a UK speedo unit into my jap set of clocks and had no adverse issues

That's why the clock swap option is generally preferred (although most expensive lol).

I also noted some of the converters I have seen state the odometer racks up in miles, but that's contrary to what most others have experienced :surrender:

i have a spare converter which will also make the odo read in mph, as i am NOT subscribed i am NOT allowed to sell this to you but am contactable on 07929159828 to discuss if you should wish

all converters should change the odometer to aproximatly miles as they are fitted before the speedo and the odometer takes its signal from the speedo

 

people who change only the speedo face to one that goes up to 120mph without fitting the electronic converter will find the odometer still reading KM

 

nothing from a series 2 is compatable with a series 4 (and i think a series 3 although cant confirm) the connections to the entire unit are different and the mounting points on the speedo section (which are also electrical connections) are in totally different places

 

using a converter shouldnt affect the PAS to baddly as long as your speedo is in good order. you might feel that its a bit lighter at low to mid speed.it will also in theory affect the hicas if you have it

 

a speedo with poor solder joints may work without the converter but not with. this is especially true on a car with a manual conversion (my manual conversion 1995 zed speedo didnt work till you got to 10mph and therefore had almost no power steering till then, fixed by a bit of resoldering - but be aware the series 4 speedo is surface mount technology and not fun for soldering)

you can fit 2000spec in series 3 onwards i have these in one of my verts

 

As far as I was aware they never sold UK models after '95 ?

they didnt, however, and i'm heading into speculation here, the series 3 which was the last UK model sold '93 to '94 had as standard an airbag and hence a redesigned speedo with an airbag light.

I recently sold a speedo that looked identical to a series 4 except it had a boost gauge which the series 4 didnt have, so it was either a series 3 or series 5.

 

therefore its possible that a UK series 3 speedo (airbag model) will fit a '95 series 4 import
