Are they expensive and hard to do?, ive also got to MOT my car do you recon i should change before or after? ie will it affect healight leveling etc...

You will need to clean the projector lens inside and out with either option.

You can get some ultra bright H3 which are brighter than standard or you could get a H3 HID kit of ebay for around £30-£40, easy to fit, but again clean the headlight glass and lense.

they are easy to do, can cost anywhere between £35 and £99, so shop around, and easy to do, its a plug and play affair. just unplug the old bulb, plug the power into the wiring harness and then the plugs into the bulb that comes with the kit, and plug the bulb into the head light, put the box somewhere and job done. it will even go through the MOT, and as its just a bulb, if your headlights are already set level, then no adjusting to be done.

Sorry to drop in, but hopefully this will help the OP too ;)

I am guessing these aren't worth bothering with ?

Ebay link 1

But these would be what you want, and they just plug into existing plugs without any splicing ?

Ebay Link 2

Presumably they only replace dip beam, and main is fine as is ?

Ebay Hids are crap sull stop. as are the gay blue bulbs. the blue bulbs look nice but give off less light.

For a proper hid kit you need to send about £100

 you need to shop around matey, no offence to smithy here, but the hid kit he was selling for £97, you could get the same one, for £50 else where.

Just because you don't spend a small fortune, just means you where wise enough to use google and search better :tt2:

Ive had 5 kits off ebay now and everyone was :xxx:

on the supra the std bulbs were brighter than the hids.

The best i have ever seen and owned were the ones for £120 from DTA and are 100time better than the ebay tat. I have ebay ones on now and there still dangerous compaired to the others and thats a fact

Although there may be differing qualities from various sources, where do you think most of them come from? China

The digital ballasts are better and seem to be more efficient and reliable than the analogue ones, but if you remember Yowser did some comparisons and there was no difference in output with a 6000K bulb.

Worth bearing this in mind before forking out for a set of HID's. There is a good chance that they are going to start checking them at time of MOT. The new regs kick in at the start of next year.

Just out of interest, has anybody actually BOUGHT this kit off eBay, I traced them back and they dont appear to be Chinese copies, but Romanian ones.

the blue ones are also not road legal as they are 100w usually and don't conform to some sort of rule. so be careful what you buy.
