My brakes are squeaking really bad at the moment. Been getting progressively worse over the last month. The pads have only covered 3000 miles but were nothing special as was stuck at short notice when getting them done. I'd ordered a set for a z31!!

Will fitting new pads cure this or is it something more sinister?

I had that problem, so took them all apart, grit blasted the discs and pad faces, put them all back together with a smear of CopperSlip on the rear of the pads and shims and they were fine afterwards.

i have the same problem, i stripped mine and copper greased everything. (not the mating surfaces lol), roughed up the pad surface, and angled the pad edges, it still squeals like a mofo.

Mine has started doing this recently too, but I put it down to the recent dry weather and the road I live on is gravel/aggregate.

I reckon I have grit stuck between the pad and disk and it'll 'wear out' eventually.

how low are the pads mate? there is a little bit of metal which squeeks when pads are getting near to needing a change. I am sure you know this already but thought i would just eliminate the obvious.

hahaha, yeah i know, i gotta change my pads as one pad on the passenger side is rather low, and when i copper greased them up the other day, i put that little squeal bit back in, so thats most likely why.

Cant believe i didnt realise that when putting them back together.

I'm looking to come up on Friday afternoon at about 4 or 5pm mate. That cool?

the positions you can get into in these cars, while still being relatively discreet is a bonus i find.

Vods, you know you cant go saying stuff like that!!!!, didnt your appearance in front of the judge last time teach you anything..............

you have to say you have some sweets too..................:censored:

Back on topic, daffy make sure the metal shims are located properly and also grease the face up that is on the outer side of the pad.

ahhh this used to piss me off big time on mine..took the pads out and run a rough file across them to clear the face then i run rough emery cloth across the discs to take the shine off them...used to last about 1000 miles then ide have to repeat the procedure. It was the only thing that stopped them sqealing

Not sure if this will relate to ur problem matey, but.....

I got a set of Feroddo brake pads from the net several years ago, and once fitted they squealed like a pig on heat!!!!! Heavy braking and soft braking, very bad, and very embarrassing....

Turns out when "Jimmer" rebuilt my engine, the "so called" Feroddo 2500 pads, where in fact Luton van pads that had the attachment holes blended to fit a 300zx caliper!!!!!!!!!

Cannot remember the website i got them from, but.... just shows ya what shite is out there....

Alz.

Just a quick one but it may be the disks. Zs have a problem with overheating on the disks causing them to warp, this will make them screem like a pig

Mate get it to mine ill do them, i gotta do mine anyway, so can do them both at the same time, doesnt take long and ive got copper grease already :D

mine are squeaking at moment, mine is because the shims are broken as found when painting calipers, would say for you aswell new shims and copper grease them, see if that solves squeak
