Was a bit gutted that my car barely stroked even with a boosted up Sapphire Cossie the other week, so fancy upping the anti a little. Im running stock block, turbos, intercoolers, injectors, boost jets (0.9mm and no idea of the boost level tbh, but I can feel the turbos loosing puff around 6k revs).

Car feels fast but I wouldnt mind a bit more response and a bit more top end grunt. I havent seen any 700 quid HKS GT2530 kits around for a while (mores the pity) so what can I do on a relative budget? Was thinking EBC set to 17psi (though who knows that could be a little less than I'm currently running, maybe a bit more) but can't see that making a big difference.

Would some bb GT28's from a pulsar or s15 on each side be a good idea, and if yes, where could I get some 5 bolt elbows that wont cost the earth?

Car is pretty much sorted looks wise, just needs lowered a little more at the back to set it up nice as a 'street car' (nothing crazy like a show car, just sporty looking)

1st thing to do before anything else will be an upgraded intercoolers and injectors. then start thinking about turbos :)

Cheers Car.Mad , that sounds feesible - can GTiR T28r's fit the manifolds without any turbo modifications like rotated housings?

Cheap ways of getting more power only turn expensive later...

You didn't mention it, but I assume you've got an aftermarket intake? What about your exhaust? If not, start there - you can wind your turbos up all you want but if the air cant pass through the engine then you'll acheive very little.

Also what engine management have you got. If you get it chipped by someone who knows these cars well, then you can easily liberate another 50hp possibly more.

If you have got all of those, then you're running out of options really, an EBC would help but you'll not be doing your engine any favours. Remember a 300hp engine that works is far better than a 400hp engine thats gone bang.

Talking of figures - Yassa got over 400hp from his car running mainly stock components, so there is potential there - but you have to be 100% sure your engine is in good health - otherwise...

And - don't get too bothered just because someone in a Cossie whupped yo ass, you don't know what power or mods they are running. It doesn't matter how much power you have, there is always, always someone with more - unless you have a very small third leg, I wouldn't worry too much about this..

It's tiny dude.. but it's no biggie, the main problem is I've gotten used to the power and it's become stale and boring.

So far I got aftermarket intake, 3" decat pipes and 3" single exit exhaust, boosted up, JD ecu and boost jets. I'd guess its running 350 or so hp but it's a pure guess. How would I push her to a solid 400hp?

I'm currently in the process of choosing my engine spec - its due to be rebuilt by Jimmer, hopefully very soon.

And all I can say is - pah. I've read so much stuff now I don't know what to believe. But, going on what you've already done, I'd agree with car mad that intercoolers and possibly injectors are the way to go. If you leave the turbos alone, the injectors will probably be fine, if you want a set of T28's running high boost, you will definitely need them to protect your engine. I would also guess that your mods are good for 350hp - that Cossie must have been a pretty tasty car! But to get to the 400 mark, I would get some intercoolers, an EBC then go and see Jeff at Zedworld, or have a word with Jon Dixon about mapping the engine properly for you.

From what I can see, you'll either pay a few hundred for another 25-50hp, or you'll have to spend thousands to take it to the next step up. If I were you, I'd aim for 375 and feel pleased if you got more. Otherwise you'll quickly fall into the finacial black hole that is Zed engine tuning!! Be warned! :devil2:

stock injectors are only good for about 14-15psi as long as you have a good ecu... any more and you will be running lean somewhere and are riding a time bomb...

The injectors will be maxed out at 1.3bar

Back in 2006 I had a TT manual shortie and on the rollers it produced 401bhp running at 1.3bar but the operator advised to reduce the boost pressure down to around 1.1max for safety.

At 1.1 bar it ran 372bhp and afr was good.

Also just to mention the 1st run at 1.3 bar and 401bhp was with stock coolers and a jwt chip.

So I reckon you'll need to upgrade your injectors and either get a chip or a decent ecu to run a reliable 400bhp, anything beyond that and then I'd also go with uprated coolers.
