Rust Autopsy on my UK 300zx

Following on from Del's rust thread I thought I'd share some pictures of mine.

Rust started appearing quite bad on the arches of my Z last year, thats the point where I decided to give it a quick fix up and a DIY respray to freshen it up for what would potentially be its final year.

I'll be honest, I know they are known for sills rotting away, but I never really checked properly to see what my sills were doing, maybe because I didnt want to face the facts that they were probably hanging off

Anyway heres some pictures:-

Final farewell to the complete white Z (february 1st)

Is that the same zed you sprayed with rattle cans? not a bad finish considering.

yeah that is, but then its all down to the lacquer ive found. if you get the 2k stuff, i cant see why you cant rattle can a car, as long as the cans you use, have the fan spray pattern on them and not that stupid dot that gives you the runs

mmm I have some 2k laquer which ive used on my cam covers, but still took days to harden and its still not completely cured. Ive ordered an infrared heater/light for curing paint, hopefully that will give the boost it needs to go hard lol.

Stick them on the car and take it for a drive. will be cured by the time you get home lol

Why couldn't you transfer the reg Baz ?

for some reason its non-transferable, the bloke at the doovla reckoned it was a plate it had ages ago but then had a different plate put on, then reverted back to this one. Still doesnt make much sense though lol. it doesnt particularly mean anything to me but would have been nice to transfer it so the legend could live on. and the history file. lol :sweatdrop:
