okay all, bit of a strange one, i changed to decats, after the event i have read up on it, now im not too sure as i dont want to fubar my turbos or engine. so im seriously thinking about putting the cats back on, however i would like to flush out / wash / regen the catalytic bit to as near as new a condition as possible, has anybody done this before, is it even possible, i thought about flushing them with petrol etc but not sure if its a good idea

thanks

Neil

mate to be honest, although you need back pressure on the turbos to hold the seal, it will still be there, as the exhaust gases have to work there way through the back boxes. the problem comes from having bad seals already on the turbos. removing the cats just quickens the inevitable IF they are failing in the first place.

You will not knacker your engine putting decats on the car, the decats on my car have been there a good few years as well, since the previous owner of the previous owner lol, and mine is fine.

power gain you say.... pressing the throttle now gives the car the reaction time of a stabbed rat, Mega

I'm sure we've been over this before in another thread. There's no possible way that the back pressure in the exhaust system would be keeping however many PSI of oil back behind their seals.

If somebody notices a bit of oil smoke after a decat, it's becuase the seals were already ****ed but the cats were hiding the worst of it.

We have, and to be honest if you think about it properly, its a bit of a crappy design flaw if you need back pressure to hold a seal in place.

your 'cat' is a log sized ceramic-like brittle web, plated in very strange/precious and expensive metals. It evens sounds like we should leave it be.

They can collapse shortly after the most exploritary of stabs. Neat petrol slowly disolves them thru time. Just about the only thing you can do is damage them.
