Bored, bored, bored!

Looking at some of the other peoples lovely Z's on the forum, especially in the rides section...I was wondering what is the deal with fitting nice aftermarket wheels? What is the max. size you can fit without having to modify wheel arches etc.?

i think 18s are about as big as you can go, but might catch when you turn wheel all lock, 17s i think are better as they are cheaper to maintain especially tyres.

you can go really wide like 275 if you want,

Hi, I've got a set of 9x18's on the back with 265/35 tyres, and 8x18's on the front with 225/35 tyres. The car does sit very low and the only thing I experience is when going over big bumps at speed the rear tyres rub slightly, but I'll be putting stiffer shocks on soon which should cure the problem. On the front, I can use full lock without any rubbing round the arches.

Hope this helps

Chris

Cheerz Warren,

I noticed that on twinturbo.net in the rides section that the fronts are say 17x9 and backs are 17x10 or whatever...but they're not the same size. Is this the width or what?

Hello Tim,

Read this:

http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/WheelSizez.html

The article is from Zhome.com, there is also a great "How to section" by a chap called Andy Woo, he covers most things, even how to jack the car up properly with pictures included!!

Not sure why the link doesn't work,

just go to www/zhome.com and scroll down the left nav bar till you get too wheel sizes.

Zee ya.

Also a big hi to everyone else that I haven't spoken to a while.

Sh*t I meant http://www.zhome.com

This is what happens when you rush a job.

I'm running 18x9s all round with 265s on the back and 245s on the front - NO RUB WHAT-SO-EVER on ANY corner of the car.

What wheels were you thinking of getting Tim?

Andy

A few bits of info ...

The size is only one thing (and, as we all know, it's not the most important thing). The offset will make a big difference not only to the handling but also to the size you can fit.

Another point is that you can fit wider 18s than 17s as the 18s will clear the HICAS control arms and some 17s won't.

For info, I'm running 18x8.5 fronts and 18x10 rears with no clearance problems on HICAS. I do get a very slight rub on the fronts running 265/40-18s. This could be solved by going to 265/35-18s.

19s are no problem if you go down one on profile but you're getting into SERIOUS money on tyres.

Most people don't go any wider than 265 on the rear although I do know that Andy Elephant runs 285/30-19. Not sure if his bodywork mods help though.

Dave

19's fit just fine.

Correction - I have 245s on the front and not 265s as I said. Whoops - sorry.

Dave

mine are also 8*18 front and 10*18 rear 265 35 18 and 245 40 18 front offsets are 35mm front and 45mm rear. being lowered 35 mm all round very soon.

tried these wheels on mates 300 jizz which is 40mm lower buy cutting a coil off and they never rubbed on his either.
