Help please, i realise this question has been asked before , however the links to online schematics / on line manuals do not represent the electrical layout i need.

specifically i am going to wire in a KPH to MPH converter and need to splice into the instrument wiring, i have a later type cluster with HORIZONTAL type connectors can anybody reccomend a link which identifies the purpose of each wire on the connectors

my car is a 93 TT jap spec Auto

thanks

now im more confused, the instructions i have state ,

connection of speedo converter behind the Speedo head connector

1 cut the signal wire

2 connect the yellow wire from the speedo converter to the signal wire from the loom

3 connect the green wire from the speedo converter to the signal wire on the speedo head connector

so which signal wire do i cut, the yellow one or violet one, also is the speed signal in definitely yellow

which of the connector blocks is the correct block to be tapping into ??? there are potentially 3 on the back ( plus 2 like ears) on the sides

Ok, the wire you cut is the yellow wire, this comes from the speedo sensor, that goes into your plug into the back of the dash, this is then connected to the yellow of the delimiter box and the violet wire to the speed in, screw on the back of the speedo with the symbol 2p. You will notice with the plug in the dash which wire ( yellow) is inline with the 2p track.

Apart from the wires to power the module, imagine the delimiter box as an inline fuse.

Or simply put Yellow - yellow, violet to the yellow in the plug

I think those PDF instructions are tellng you to cut the circuit board track for the 'Speed in' signal and wire the yellow speed converter wire to one side, and your green wire to the other side.

Not sure I like that, instead I would just use the diagram to find the correct wire instead. I believe its yellow, and you should be able to follow the circuit track as indicated in those diagrams for the "speedo in" and follow it to the correct plug and wire.

okay, im fairly clear with that lot, but which of the 3 plugs will it ( the correct wires to break into) be in, ( x 2 horizontal ) and 1 vertical ????? and is it def a yellow and violet wire im looking for, the destructions that came with the converter talk about light brown and blue wires or yellow and blue, sorry to be pedantic about this but i want to get it right first time without killing a good set of clocks

The diagram supplied shows the wires being cut into / spliced into before the speedo head connector and does not talk about modifying the circuit board directly

Follow the circuit tracks for "speed in" - that will lead you to the correct plug and wire to cut.

Then just follow your instructions that came with the delimiter.

I believe the Violet wire is refering to the wires on a different brand speed conveter to what you have. You have a green wire instead.
