Yo dudes, I`ve had 2 bloody laptops go knacked on me in the last 3 months, 1 of them has some work related files,pics that i need off the hard drive, the laptops are completley dead and wont turn on but the hard drives are ok, I have just bought a 2.5 caddy and booted the hd up, but cant find my files that i need?? is it because i had a password on my laptop? how can I access these files?

What type of operating system you got ?

 

It may be that you just need to assign a drive letter to the drive.

 

You can get that from going to the disk management service !

Laptop was xp and my main is on win7 , I can look in the drive and have a drive letter and can see most of my files/programms but a few of the folders arnt showing :thumbup1:

On Vista and Windows 7 open a run box and type "compmgmt.msc" that should bring the system manager up

Just normal folders with pics, publisher files in, new folder 1, new folder 2 ect :sneaky2:

Agreed, the penny just dropped after i posted that. hes been on longer than 30mins now. must of lost his porn lol
