as above? ive just swapped the OSF calliper for a reman one as it was badly seized and made such a bad juddering under heavy braking. the NSF was pretty sticky too but not as bad as the other, but the calliper i was sent had had the mount holes fettled with to the wrong thread! as the numbers in the castings were the same i can only guess they drilled it out for some reason. but anyway, my brakes were very very poor, and they overheated after just a couple of hard applications, im not using decent pads though, what are my options without spending huge amounts of cash though?

you answered it yourself, stock brakes work well with decent pads providing you haven't got any seized pistons in the calipers

my stock breaks are awesome, even Artztogo commented on mine when i took him out in it, the only down side i have is squeaky pads.

always going to be worse in an auto...? but anyways yes they should be good if well maintained. mine arnt that great. my gfs picanto nearly rips my face off however.

Why? I've never heard that before.

even with new discs and pads all around i never liked them :( even refurbed the front ones once and still didn't like them , upgrading the brakes were one of the best mods i done.

i dunno some one told me there where as you obviously there sno engine braking, thats probally why the stopping power of the car as awhole is less i guess. which has no real bearing on the brake itself. i know what i mean lol

In terms of single stopping distances, they are actually pretty good.

The 300zx has a shorter stopping distance than most modern cars.

They lack the initial bite that modern cars have, which can give the incorrect impression that they dont brake as well though.

This is for a properly working brake setup ofcourse, which is not actually that typical. Most are running around with sticking caliper pistons, worn discs and pads and old brake fluid.

Brake fade is an issue though, and Better discs, Pads and Brake fluid can help. High performance pads have a higher coefficient of friction and tend to have higher operating temperature limits. Some disc designs are more efficient at dissapating heat than others, and modern Dot brake fluids or specific Race Brake fluids have higher operating temperature limits.

But if its an issue your often experiencing the best solution is to go bigger. The main purpose of any big brake kit is to improve heat disapation, for reduced brake fade from continued hard use.
