Perspex trim led brake light mod

I bought a new trim and took a deep breath and started cutting it about, after doing a trial on an old broken trim to see if it would work !

http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=148783

Found another light which was longer than the one i did the trial with so it would fit better , removed the outer shell and trimmed it down to size .

Cut out most of the original one and carefully removed the red lens inside

A bit of trimming and in it went

Looks alot more modern when lit and when it,s not it,s now clear instead of having the red lens showing through :hyper:

BTW i know these are really brittle in two areas that have a gap in the backing , a pi55 poor design fault ! but to stop me sweating so much doing this i used some bumper repair glue and reinforcing mesh to strengthen it .

My last one broke at one of these gaps so hopefully shouldn,t happen again:thumbup:

Wotcha Graham , I bought more than enough base and laquer and sprayed all the shuts in the tent , sorry my flexible garage ! lol , saving time to concetrate on the outside.

I,m getting quite nervous about doing it , it,s been a long long time since i sprayed a car , not only is it a new spray gun it,s a gravity feed gun , i was used to using the old Devilbiss suction feed gun !

I,ll get some pics up tomorrw if it looks ok :whistling:

So you used a sprayed gun?

I was hoping to my door jams etc with a can and clear, to save taking it all apart for the spray shop. Trouble is i use my car virtually everyday, so didnt want it off the road for too long lol any advice, apart from not too :winkiss:

Can,t see a problem doing it that way bud , quite a few motor factors will mix a base coat and put it in a rattle can and there are some really good aerosol laquers available as well , a guy who lived next door restored scooters and resprayed them with cans , they looked like a pro paint job when he,d finished .
