Hi guys , I thought i would ask on here first before a mini forum..

My girlfriend has a newish Mini cooper (56 plate)and for her birthday soon i want to buy her an i-pod and a connection kit

my question is...... the mini has a 3.5mm jack port so i assume the sound will come through the speakers but i cant see it being able to control the ipod, I have been told that this model of Mini is wired using fibre optic cables and will need a converter box that costs about £300 to be able to use the ipod and all the functions on the dash? does anyone know anything about this system or anyway of not using the converter box?

I have a 57 Clubman and use the 3.5mm input and control the ipod manually. Unless the ipod kit was fitted as an option then I've been told it'll be £300 too...

Thanks Jaffa, do you use the cable from the headphone socket or ipod connector to mini jack?

just the headphone socket, make sure the volume is on max and it sounds good :)

Oh - and look at the other nice goodies and gadgets they sell for the mini. She could compete with you for the most pimped motor. Is there space for mirrors on the mini :whistling:
