ave downloaded avg, doing a full scan now

will microsoft work with AVG, also has anyone got a link to zone alarm

i dont get any conflicts but it is avg that seems to spot most the threats anyway its a top program :)

Works for me...............

And Malwarebytes..............

Use Microsoft and Malewarebytes, dont use avg as its crap and doesn't block anything, Zonealarm is like you are stuck in a prison its that restrictive, it blocks near enough everything!

http://www.ubuntu.com

No viruses really, no adware or spyware, not made by ****ernet and does just about everything you need, unless you're using Photoshop/Illustrator extensively or some other bespoke programs only for Windows, you can usually find an Open Source and free alternative to each though, some better, some the same some not quite as good as the Windows version :D

try download.com they have free downloads and not only just security, worth a look and they are all rated.

Will add my vote for AVG too....used it for years and years and never had an infection...lol

i bloomin pay for mine norton!:cursing:

dan.

No need to be paying for AV these days, plent of good options out there for free.

Norton is the biggest malware peddler out there IMHO.

Try uninstalling it - Unless they have changed recently, you can't, without downloading their uninstall tool from their site.

Theres been some good recommendations on this thread for alternatives once your subscription is out.......

I no longer recommend AVG and current favourite is Avast, but for low maintenance and no hassle Microsoft Security Essentials is hard to beat.

Comodo is a better product than ZoneAlarm for firewalls.

I used the various Comodo products with XP, up until I got the Win7 beta - (back then Comodo didn't do Win7 yet) and was happy with them.

Started using MS Security Essentials, didn't feel the need to go back, might try Comodo out again.

Worth the switch?

I don't use the native MS firewall, it's cak, so the Comodo firewall is a good replacement for that. I don't use any other Comodo products, although I may evaluate them one day as they appear good and I don't hear bad things about them.
