was toying with that idea

iv done a few engines swaps before but they were four bangers not sure how harder/easiers the v6 would be.and costs aswell if i was going that rought id have to know the engine was solid and not a ebay banger for 300 quid or something + time will be sort coz of work..

nobody can give you your answer. Only yourself.

Although this is a one make car forum(Z32) it has a huge variety of cars specs and opinions. Its one of the reasons its such a great club.

Diversity rules.

Baz has just put over his point of view. Mine is totally different.

I only own and play with NAs by choice. I have spent more money on my NA engine than many people spend buying a whole TT car.

Why???? Cos I want to.

If I wanted a TT I would just buy one tomorrow morning.

Make your own decisions.... and enjoy

Personally I like the TT, never driven an NA but have been a passenger in one, completely different car! I know the physical design is the same and the suspension, seats etc, but the way the car drives is totally different.

I was the other way around when I was in to Capris, I preferred the 2.8i V6 NA to the Tickford Turbo model for some reason, just felt different.

i appreciate that bud.thats why im asking coz alot of ppl have both n/a and tt..

i ken the tt has more power but theres more that can go wrong such as turbo problems and the hicas can go dodgy

i understand that cars this age can and will go wrong

im just wanting pros and cons of owning a tt rather N/A

the reason I'm converting mine to TT is that I want it faster, the NA goes well enough but I want that frantic acceleration on tap when I want to open it up on back roads

dont forget though I already have a running TT that I can swap all the bits I'd possibly need, which helps when doing the conversion.

genuinly wish i had the comfort

Ive only ever had TT's so i cant comment on the NA's performance / drive.

The TT's do get a bit of bad press for the HICAS knackering up but it's like anything else on any car. Once it's fixed (or removed) you wont need to worry about it anytime soon!

I know it's personal preference but why are you set that you want a manual? I had the same view towards auto's until i went to a meet a few years ago and SandyZ took my for a drive in his TT Auto. couldnt believe how well it pulled and how quickly it changed gears!

What you could do is get someone to take you a drive in a manual TT and compare it to how you feel about your zed and go from there.

pop over to wishaw and il give you a drive in a tt auto and then a tt manual

sandy that sounds like a plan

mikey im wanting a manual purly for the bovs..a bit childish i know but...

the only auto iv driven was my bro in laws fto didnt like it that much.but thats one car

Good point Sandy. I keep forgetting your have the series 4!

I'd take him up on that offer btw, you never know.....you might drive home in a TT manual ;) lol

since you have more chance of picking up a nice auto tt why not start of with that if your ok driving the auto, they really do drive well. then once you have some spare cash get it converted to manual if you feel you need to. the only reason i converted was my auto box packed in and since d already replaced it once decided to bite the bullet and convert

having owned a N/A manual, TT auto and now a TT manual, ill take the manual TT over both of the other two any day of the week. yes the autos turbos spool faster, but hell the manual is loads of fun. plus i can shift when i want too rather than worrying about if the gear box is playing up.

sandy you ever wanted an N/A and some cash

no thanks iv already had a swb n/a

I've drove a NA Manual and a TT auto (both I still own) !

As much as i like the NA manual i'll still go for the TT Auto, never drove a TT Manual

but would like to one day. The zed i'm after if I manage to sell my two on is also a TT

but one day i might do a conversion on it - mainly for the BOVS aswell and that they

seem to use less fuel - i've heard.

Offers still there to have a go in mine just to see what you think an auto's realy like !

As Mikey says you'll be surprised.

Seconds that !!

when you drive a tt manual you will see what the difference is to an auto come and try for yourself
