Dont they do a USB cable version i cant remember the last laptop i saw with serial (rs232) connector?

but you can buy a serial rs232 connector to USB, in fact i have one..

so other than that they are worth a purchase certainly at that price?

word of warning- I have a genuine blazt datascan cable with an RS232 connector and it does not work with a serial to USB converter. I have tried two converters and not the cheap ones either.

agree, i have an

rs232 blazt cable

usb blazt cable

and also a pda blazt cable,

had to buy the usb one as my new laptop didnt have rs232 and the adaptors were useless!! but i was stupid enough to try two of them before buying the usb version..

i Baught some of those serial to USB adapters at work as i work for a mobility scooter company, we have software that you hook upto the scooters you can alter the top speed, acceleration, decellaration and lock on the back wheels its brill right fun, beleive it or not we tuned a large scooter to do 16mph and trust me that feels quick on one of those things!, but cut short the adapters worked once then kept cutting out not reliable, and hooking something upto your car and the chance of something going wrong worrys me!
