Autobox TT Problem. Please advise

I have a 90 automatic twin turbo ZX. The problem is that when you put the car into drive and set off, the revs climb quite high. It goes between 3 to 4000 rpm, before it drops into the next gear. The fluid level looks ok, warm and cold and also clean. Could it be the cable needs adjusting? Sometimes it seems as though it cant make its mind up which gear to go in! It also at times "Tugs" as it shifts gear. Also at times its like there's no power..then a minute later everything is fine! Its crazy. Other than that it seems fine.

Any ideas? Thanks

Same year, same model, similar problem here! My fluid's shagged, so I'll be changing it soon.

Is yours stuck in "Power" mode? Solenoid valves might need cleaned out too. I'll be doing that when I change the fluid.

No it seems pretty much okay..just ran it out round the block and shifting up and down was quite smooth..changed at about 2 to 2.5rpm..ran ok..but at times it dont! This has me screwed. When in power mode I expect it to hold gear longer...i best drain the fluid and stuff. But that looks "clean" to me. Heck, hope this aint a new box!

how and where do u locate the solenoids and how easy are they to do/clean?Thanks in advance.

stuck in power mode?

hmm mine does that evey 4 weeks or so, it just loves to get that power light on, even if i drive like a granny is just wants to rev away, then the next day it runs perfectly ok, damn gremlins,, or maybe those small jap dwarves we were talking about at chester
