Just does'nt sound the same

Guys,

When i had my PTU trouble over the last 6-7 weeks ago AndyP very kindly helped me out biggrin.gif.When i got my PTU back off AndyP I fitted it on & it worked well for a couple of days, then for no reason it started to miss slightly & there was a smell & a slight mist of oil coming from the back of the engine. In the morning the car started normaly & the miss & the mist of oil had gone.Did two or three hundred miles & the ptu let me down frown.gif.Took it off & repaired it myself,it worked fine for a couple of days & then the same thing happend again.

Ordered a new PTU from nissan courtesy and fitted it on.When i started the engine there was a small and short puff of oil-mist from the engine bay & the car ran great.

Now here's the niggle frown.gif.The car is'nt running the way it was but it's 99% there and the tickover is 100RPM lower than before,it also drops on revs to nearly 600RPM & then picks up again when pulling up to a stop. There is no sign of any oil anywhere & I can feel a slight unevenness when i'm setting in it,nothing major but you when something is different.

Could it have blown off a pipe or something when it first started with the new PTU or could it could it be something else.

Sorry to going on abit but everbody else does smile.gif.

My car did it a little. It just went over time.

Have you tried resetting your ecu? If not try it and if you have TC installed, turn it off for a few hundred miles. It will confuse the ecu if its trying to learn and its misfiring.

Re-set ECU, no change. There is still something not right.

Any ideas.....! Ken smile.gif

I am looking at the fuel pressure soon. I hear that is could be that.

  • 2 weeks later...

Have you checked the coil harness to ensure that they are sitting correctly/tightly. One of my coil harnesses is cracked and results in a loose harness which comes away from its seat and disconnects (power) after 50 miles or so. I know when it's disconnected itself by the rough idle, slight unevenness in idle, loss of power (it's running on five cylinders) and lower rev than normal at idle. When this happens I have to push the loose harness back into its seat and this goes on and on......After a while you get used to it.

hope this helps,

Van
