I found a load of old paperwork today, some dating back to early 1800s, all local stuff!

 

anyway the prices on them are like £3:8:9 or £1.6.7 what does that mean?

 

heres some pics if anyone is remotely interested!

 

I was the first person to look inside this folder for 160 years :euro:

and being a bit of a plumber it was interesting to see an invoice for 2 toilet syphon cisterns from 1894!

6 pence = 1 sixpence (a 'tanner') (6d)

2 shillings = 1 florin ( a 'two bob bit') (2s)

2 shillings and 6 pence = 1 half crown (2s 6d)

5 shillings = 1 Crown (5s)

thanks for the offer daffy but they cost me 4 pounds 12 fartings 8 florins 12 shillings 16 twelvepence so didnt really want to sell them for less.

and the really sad part is apart from the farthings that was all legal tender when i was a kid...i always got a half crown piece for birthdays:biggrin:
