currently in teh rpocess of saving up for some aftermarket alloys, im rolling on the orginals atm. ive got abudjet of about £500 quid taht could go up a bit for teh right set. i was orginally looking at 18s as they seem to be the best size visually on a zed. but 17s are a hell of a lot cheaper to buy. how much difference will taht extra inch make looks wise? and would i still be able to fit 330mm discs behind a 17? reilistically am i best buying second hand or buying something new within my price range. im not planning on using them for track use or agresive driving realy maybe the odd spirited b road or drag race but nothing heavy. advice please guys.

i think 17s just look way too small i think the different in that inch is huge when you look at it

Nice enough looking wheel. What have you budgeted for tyres? You'll be looking at another 500quid or so for something half decent, ie Falken 452's.

dont skimp on size

iv got this dillema just now

should i go for 17's with really good shoes or 18/19's with buget rubber

17's just dont look right

You'll forever regret it if you go for 17's. You know it makes sense to wait out and get the 18/19's or you wouldn't be in a dilemma. I don't mind 17's on a swb but think the lwb needs 18's.

You're a better man than me. I seem to be best buddies with spending and a stranger to saving since Zed ownership. What you going for?

need I say more lol :thumbup1:

18 inch alloys are probably the best in terms of both looks and ride comfort - I'm not a big fan of 19s myself......

.......But don't write off 17s either - the right set can still look good; and you'll find tyre prices a bit more reasonable. Especially if your ZX is a daily driver.

I had 17 inch Azev A wheels on my old red ZX; and the staggered width/deep rear dish made them look bigger than they were. I now have 18s on the blue one - which I think look more in proportion with the car.

Make up your own mind mate.....

Perhaps I was a bit abrubt earlier!! Having seen Richards examples I am now not so sure. As he says a lot depends on the wheel design, and for me the red looks better than the blue even on 17's. Sorry mate:yinyang:

Odd isn't it?

I still like those Azevs - Mac1 has them in 18s on his car and they really look the business!

I also reckon the colour of the car can make a difference to wheel design - ie some styles look better on certain colour cars than others!

i always thought split rms would be great, but the more i think about it the more i think solid one pice rims look good on the zed ones where the spokes reach right out it makes teh weel look larger artifically. for exapmle i really like teh wheels on the new gtr

True true. I am forever looking at new wheels but really want to make sure before I take the plunge. A big outlay with tyres only to regret it. Think those Azevs would suit my Slicktop though, and not a style i'd thought about before. Sweet :tooth:

I reckon they would too mate! They are (IMO) a classic, ageless design that seems to really compliment a Z32. A bit like the Moderna Ferrari replicas.

Easy to clean as well........

i did have one idea to keep myself with prioce range. ive got a set of 17s knocking about bu there is only three. because i smashed one when i spun out last winter. i cant find them anywhere there called Ksport, they look like lenso rs5'sif i could get a pair of 18s in the lensos i could make a "set" meaning id only need two wheels and two tyres. troubele is i just dunno if i liked them to begin with, they came on the car.
