i found a detacted vaccum hose today one of the 8mm diameter ones. under the left hand plenum air feed.the big hoses. on the face of the throttle body was a 4mm diameter alloy tube. it definatly came from there so i popped it back on. any ideas what it was or what it does,. it sems to run down the side of the plenum to the aiv area...

sounds like it was the egr vac line that runs from the driver side throttle body via a metal hard pipe to the bottom of the egr solenoid.

left side as sitting in drivers seat is carbon canister right side is EGR goes to the solenoid down right side of engine iirc

Yeah, that's the feed from the egr solenoid to throttle body. As Marty said, the other side connects to the carbon canister.
