m_reed
Going to change the clutch soon, not got a 4 post lift, so whats easier pull the engine out to change it or pull the box alone out? Thanks Mark
Smithy
Jesus mate not the engine, do box on it's own. It's not a real teccy job and any decent garage should do it for you, labour cost between 250 and 300 big ones. Smithy
m_reed
Cheers Smithy, just thought I would ask as I know a few people with subaru how take the engine out in stead of box, but probs because its 4wd. cheers Mark
Stephen
and mounted transverse? most engines mounted tahtw ay the clutch goes taht way because of how the engine is supported. but esp with azed why dissconnect all the plumbing and stuff to drop off something tahst only a few bolts and the odd cable. Stephen
oh right. does it sit quite far forward then? to allow the box the align with the front drive shaftys or has it got some weird linkages?
m_reed
I suppose if you pull the engine you dont have to mess about taking front shafts out ect, when I done the clutch I just pulled the box out, but some people do prefer to pull the engine. toftdale
When I changed my clutch for an RPS max I just removed gearbox. It was not too bad removing lowered it onto a jack then rolled from under car, which was sat on axle stands. Bear in mind the gearbox weighs about 80kg and refitting and lining up gearbox was a nightmare, due to it's weight I had to lie under box supporting with arms and jig about.
