Mystery to me. You could try asking on twinturbo.net

They probably sussed that owners would be able to get all the diag info without them (nissan)and therefore loose money. I know they stopped "flashy light diags" on vauxhalls after 1993 due to the same thing

Hi JEFF I HAVE AISO A 1993 AUTO TT JUST CHECKED MY ECU I HAVE THE LED BUT NO MODE ADJUSTMENT SCREW MIGHT CHANGE IT SOON FOR A JWT

Mine is a Series II and I have both the LED and adjustment pot. Although it is an early series II (Nov '92).

Out of interest, on these POT-less/LED-less ECU's, can they still be put into diag mode by bridging the contacts in the Consult port and watching the Check Engine light on the dash?

Aaron

I would be surprised if they couldn't, because I suspect that would affect the functionality of the Consult. I would have also thought that this would have been discused on tt.net too, becuase they must have quite a lot of Series II (and above) cars over there.
