Khm... sorry, what is MAF and who exactly is wet or knackered? I am just a beginner in this, apologies..

The MAF is the Air Flow Meter which tells the ECU how much air it's receiving.

I think it is possible to dry them out but also very easy to damage irrepairably!

Cheers! Will take it off and dry it overnight. And where one can get one of these in London?

Maf is located under the panel between the headlights it is the round tube with a square box on it with a multi plug wire attached hope this helps.

Cheers everyone for help - changed MAF today - and we are alive!!

Now i have different problem - it rev's allright up to 3000, and very slow from 3000-5000, and after 5000-7000 again no problem (little bit of misfire now and then, blue smoke, strong petrol smell, and it wont go more than 7000 and then drops completely to zero.)

And whe you press gass full to the floor there are like 2-3 seconds before throttle picks up slowly .. I hope i make sense..

Check auto box oil level mine was only half full and caused me misfire and poor gear change and sluggish acceleration and shuddering , oil changed and car is running fantastic

check the PTU its on the left hand side of the front of the cam cover , if its a dodgy series one unit..you will get that hesitation and missfiring above 3000rpm ...car will be in safety mode .....

and I wouldn't keep revving it to 7000 if it's not running right mate! Maybe a boost leak? PTU is often the culprit tho...

Is there anyone in East London (Rainham) side? I just wanted to see if my PTU is dead (dont really fancy ordering one if mine is ok) .. will buy some beer :)

  • Author

Sweet! What are your plans for tomorrow? (and how do i send PM here..?)

  • Author

Hi,

Wanted to find out - is there a way to check if PTU is faulty or not? I dont want to buy new one if mine is OK ...

providing all the connections in the plugs are nice and clean, or you could still get the same symptoms...

  • Author

Yeah, i checked all plugs and connections - all good now (plugs were black do..).

maybe someone near you has one you can try? It's an easy job to swap over....
