in a sense its possible to turbo anything however to get the best out of it there is alot more that would have to be done to the engine cam work etc. and compression. insurance wise it would become a modified car, it would be cheaper to insure the stndard tt than a modded na with a turbo. i looked into this when i was into my capris cheaper to buy a 2.8 than make it a 2.8. i think all in all you would probally find it easietr and cheaper to either buy a tt lump complete and drop it in or just buy a tt car.

I'm sure I remember reading, if you were to turbo an NA, with the higher compression ratio etc. it would be pretty meaty, I'm sure JeffTT mentioned something ages ago...

This would be interesting to know as my plans is to stick a TT lump in mine however if it could be done by using the NA lump and swapping over the manifolds would be very good news.

wouldnt you need to lower the compression of the na 1st?

im no expert but from past experience, with friends turbo'in Na/s they usually do.

i agree, i know quite often people use extra headgaskets or packers to decrease compression for turboing applications.

No not me !!

I enquired about this a long time ago, and from what i got told, i wouldnt bother trying to TT a N/A engine. reason being is the internals are much stronger in the TT to cope with the extra stresses that are going to be applied to them.

I suspect that if you stuck some tubs on the N/A engine after about a month or two you would need a new bottom end.
