I've booked the Zed in for a Rolling Road session wednesday morning. Not a tune, just a power run as the Zed's running spot on at the min.

Just looking for some tips and advice, anything i should/shouldnt do before i get there?

I've just had the oil changed, so no worries there and i know i should run it on the fuel i usually use to give a true reading, so a full tank of the Momentum.

Anything else?

Also, what sort of power should i be looking for with the following specs:-

3" straight thru exhaust with decat

Greddy twin mushroom induction

chipped ecu

0.9bar (14psi ??) boost

HKS Super SQV II BOV's

I'll be happy with anything over 300 bhp at the flywheel

355!

Put more air in the tyres than you normally do.

i usually put 32psi all round, how much more would you say? 36psi in the rear?

Maybe. I'd put 40 in, it wont harm it.

I put 40 in the Mr2 on track, in the wet too, and it was fine.

Ive got a subscription to track driver magazine. This month there is a peice on Rolling Roads.

The RR op said he up 10psi extra in a car and got 4bhp more!

He goes on about how to check boost pipe clips etc, as with turbo cars he has trouble with them.

Other than that, oil and fuel, and your away!

Ok, i'll come clean, i wana see 400bhp!!!

POOOOWWWEEEEEEER!!!

haha I'm excited to see what its got, the last car i took on a rolling road was my 1.6 8v saxo. That got 126 bhp, so i will be happy if it beats that haha :p

dunno about 400, without uprated intercooler, or some serious mapping. (FCtuning) seem to be good at getting over 400bhp out of a stock turbo on 300zx's.

i think your looking at 320 gotta take into account the age of these cars they have lost alot of horses along the way

ouch 320,damm. it'd have to be shit motor to put out that low amount.

he is running a bar of boost :-)

mines running very similar setup to yours, except with uprated intercoolers

I made 338 bhp, 330 lb/ft with mine.

Although to be fair the engine in mine is the shitty spare and had a boost leak. Its also quite temperamental aswell and was having one of its bad days.

You should be able to match my power easy enough i would have thought but can't see you getting much over 350 without intercoolers tbh

im shocked at how poor these dyno results/ expectations come out, most chip sellers, say at least 370hp with just chip boost and exhaust upgrade?

The people selling chips are probably being very optimistic and probably quoting power figures at the fly and not wheels and all on a fresh healthy engine.

They're trying to sell a product so have to hype it up a bit to sell it.

Having said that if it was a nice new engine then maybe it would live up to the expectation, but realistically most peoples engines are a bit tired.

maybe so mate, but many still do see over 370 hp as expected, John Dixon is ment to be an excellent mapper, so i doubt the claims are 'hyped up'.

he should see at least 350, i know my number keeps chaning but id expect 350 AT LEAST, even on a tired engine, some have seen over 400hp with similar mods...

alll of these engines are 'tired' too. fingers crossed for some big numbers, im highly optimistic about this, lets hope im not wrong.

COV-ROB. which chip do you have?

YASSA on here had over 430hp with the same mods.... but tuned by FC tuning.

10 of us went on a dyno day and we all basically got the same mods and we were all within 10bhp.

We averaged around 335 at the fly. i got this figure on stock boost and an off the shelf chip. alot of it also depends on the dyno machine.

a few later went on another machine and got an extra 20bhp lol!!!

stock boost is the key here carmad, add another 5psi and surely it will be higher.

Rolling roads are a bone of continuous contention!

End of the day, results from different RR's are not comparable. On the day with a group of cars you could say one is more powerful than the other but:

My standard M3 Evo + Induction kit made 297bhp on one Dyno Dynamics Dyno and then 2 months later made 328bhp on another dyno dynamics but at a different place. No change in the car just the settings of each dyno (I did check they were the same model!).

What dynos DO show you is if the car is fueling properly, boosting properly and giving smooth power delivery.

Its easy to make a dyno produce readings as to whatever you want, end of the day if you tell each of your customers they have a huge penis (power output) they'll keep coming back and bring their friends!

Yeah got injectors now and uprated intercoolers and soon off to a custom map because i was over fueling like a pig

car mad. what makes you think you were overfueling, and how will a new map change that?

the rolling road print out shows you your air/fuel mixture and it was way off where it should be and a custom map regulate your a/f mixture :)

346.7bhp at the fly :D I'm happy with that. Said it was running a little rich at the top end, but other then that, spot on.

you jammy dodger!

still good to know what to expect when i have mine chipped, then it'll be a near identical spec as yours.

Gonna keep it at 350, or push for more?

depends on the job front. At the minute no plans, but as soon as i start getting some disposable income i'll keep fiddling around. I want more POWWWWWWEEEEEER!!!!!
