I have isolated the squaking in my car to the gearbox or clutch, it is loudest when I am rolling downhill in gear or when I downshift and the revs increase, and dissapears when I depress the clutch pedel, it is not affected by braking or the hand brake and goes away when I accelerate. I have checked and it is also not from the front drive belts. My clutch is not slipping and has good bite so its not that.
It is a squeaky rubbing noise, similar to belt squeal. could it be the clutch bearing or something like that, how can I check and what can I do about it.
This weekend I am going to grease and clean all the suspension joints and see if it makes any difference.
Any suggestions or advice would be great as it is driving me mad, especially when changing down gears and I want to get it sorted.
