The nicest spoiler in the world.. but is it worth it?

OK.. Im not the richest guy out there, but after spending months turning this over in my head I'm on the brink of sending a very large sum of money for this item:

To me it's the perfect 300zx spoiler, there's other cheaper options I COULD go for.. but I know in myself I wouldn't feel 100% happy. So the question is, is it worth me shelling out over 800 pounds for one of these?

It's the only way I can get it, to get veilside jpn to custom make me one and ship it over (lead time of 4 months if shipped by air and 6 months by sea (inc. 2 months creation time)...

I know I'd be delighted with it.. but it's as much as you could get some 18x10 bbs lm's or a leather retrim or something equally exotic.. I know smooth boots look nice, but this just adds that little length to the car it needs and from a side profile is just lush without looking gawdy.

What you reckon??

i think it looks good and £800 if that is delivered sounds good i know my Abflug type 2 costs £600 just for the spoiler in Japan then you have shipping and tax on top. To be unique you have to spend that little bit extra

So it's £800 all in?

that includes import tax (if you get done for it), spaying and fitting?

if not they it's going to cost you a lot more than that.

Doesn't do anything for me I'm afraid. Looks like someones got an old mat and draped it over the edge of the boot lid.

(I assumed from the title that this thread was going to be about the 99 spec spoiler...)

Haha I suppose it's all down to personal taste, to me this is by a long margin the most appealing spoiler and I've seen them all down to the american and japanese rarities. I don't like the 99 spec or any of the bigger wings (except for the paul bailey one, that was pretty nice). but everyones taste is different I suppose, I also don't particularly like low offset 'hellaflush' wheels, stretched tyres etc. with exception of a few as driving around with that setup would be sh*t and it's nothing more than a silly extreme fad.

800 includes freight and post to my door, but does not include any import taxes.. but I've been lucky with those recently and not been charged a penny. Fitment is easy it's bolt on, and spraying needs to be done anyway so prepared to pay that.

This car has always looked good because of a low ride height combined with wheel arches filled out to the max. i would spend money getting those two things right and then look at a rear spoiler.

Im with you on the 99 spec spoiler loads of people rave about this and im not sure if it is because they actually like it or just because it is a OEM part. I think the 99 spec is too narrow for the car and doesnt look right so when sleek spoilers like this come along im all for it.

Everyone has their own tastes but i think there is alot of sheep around. Its your car why not be original rather than follow the crowd. When you look at the zeds that are winning the awards i dont see them following the norm however are gaining appreciation for their work and ideas.

Im not a fan of the 99spec either, agreed that i do not think it actually suits the rear end of the car. i dont like the high level spoilers either.

The best spoiler for the 300zx ive ever seen is the 89spec OEM that originally it came with.

As for that vailside spoiler, sorry but it just doesnt do it for me either. not sure what the designers where thinking when they thought that it looked good. but the sides dont hug the car, and the rear looks like its just a over hang and looks out of place.

Agreed with Andy, that the only reason the car in the pictures looks good, is its choice of wheels and how well they fill the arches.

Each to there own though, but for £800, id get someone to make something for me.

Wether its worth it is only something you can answer for yourself.

As for me, I like it from the rear view.....but dislike how the rest of it looks so "stuck on" , perhaps if it could be blended in it would look good.

As for disliking flush offsets - done correctly, this only has postive affects on the way it drives, increasing the vehicle track improves traction and stability.

Your right about Stretched tyres, they are just stupid and Im not a fan of high spoilers either.

I think the 99 spec is too narrow for the car....

The reason for its width : to follow-on the natural curves of the cars lines.

lol, no one gets that low to notice though.

 dont need to be low, just from the rear. Its just the only pic I had from straight on.

yeah i know, i was messing about, i still don't think it suits the car though.

*off topic* yowser I'm so tempted to photoshop a front bumper onto your sig lol

I think it looks ok to be honest.

But surely for that money you could go to a body shop with a photo and say 'make me this'? And get it blended in too, perhaps? You could end up spending £800, get it and then find out it fits like a piece of ... Just a thought.

LOL It does have a front bumper (99spec), unfortunatly it and half of the rest of the car is Primer grey currently.

800 to 1000, but I'd have to travel to south england where most of the decent custom bodyshops are (Im in the north of scotland) thats a couple of hundred quid in fuel and b&b's as well as time off work which I don't get. I've had some japanese parts before and have to say on the whole fitment has been 100% perfect. I was half tempted to make one myself but it wouldn't have as good a finish

Bottom line pal is that it's your car and you should do what you want. If you'd really made your mind up you would have sent the money and the first we'd know about it was when you post pics of it fitted.

Sounds to me like you are still in two minds, and at that price who wouldn't be?!

Stand by the courage of your convictions and if you really want it and have put asside the 'hard earned' then go for it.

If your car is stock height and offsets be prepared to be disappointed though. That spoiler alone will not 'make' your car.

As always just my opinion, but 800 notes is a serious investment and could be spent in many ways. Your Zed, your choice.
