I need to get my car to Zedworld.

Im around 5 miles from them.

My usual recovery man wants £50 to do it.

Is it me or is that a little excessive?

The front bumper got damaged when he got the car from Bristol for me too.

Ive gone much futher for £30 in the past, i know the fuel has gone up but still...

Anybody know of somewhere cheap?

I dont think that sounds to bad tbh.

He has to come to you. spend time getting it on the back, Then 5miles down the road, take it back off them drive home. I couldnt be arsed to do that for £40 lol!!!

that is a little steep if you are going to flat tow i would recomend to drop the prop shaft first chec with vodka or jeff to conferm but i work for recovery and do not recomend flat tow as the gear box will be runing or just do not go above 25kmh but you will need check this info

as dave says, theres a lot of work for £40... I think you'll struggle to get a cheaper quote unless you've 'got a mate' that can do it for ya.

I guess theres a machine mart near you?

straight towing bars are about £12 for a basic 3-piece one and about £23 for a sprung one. A handy thing to have?

I can just see it now, i'd be a mile from Zedworld (passing the POLICE station!) and the Rozzers will come and get me.

Im half expecting to get it there and Jeff to tell me its fooked, £50 is a fair bit for 5 miles!

not if he will opick it up in the middle of the day so you dont ahve to thinka bout it by the time youve taken tim eout your day to deal with it its worth 50 quid. whats 50 quid buy you these days???

When I last used an A-frame or whatever they're called I was told that if any of the wheels of the car that's being towed are touching the road it must be insured. However - I decided to risk it and towed mine with no insurance and got pulled into a VOSA checkpoint (pretty much sums up my luck) but luckily they either didn't check for insurance or weren't bothered as the guy seemed pretty interested in the car and I had a good chat with him - but you might not be so lucky! Worth checking before you risk just using a bar. HTH

my mate and me towed an old morris 1000, van with no lights or plate on the rear, from reading to south wales on an Aframe, and the light board was on the roof, never got pulled with it.

i can beat that........ i once towed a light aircraft on a trailer with the wings strapped to the roof of my escort van 200 odd miles from god knows where (nothhumbria?) to s wales. took me 18 hrs of driving, but i did get a bit lost and ended up in manchester

Think its got more to do with Luck than anything else.

You could drive a stolen car and get away with it, if you dont pass a police car or camera...

im in barry and zedless at the mo, hoping to get a n/a soon tho

not to far then mate hope to get mine on the road again soon and hopefully without the gearbox failing again.

One of the funniest things i saw was at my last garage,my apprentice broke down in a ford courier van and another lad went out to straight bar him back with his ldv convoy, they couldnt find a towing eye on the front of the courier as its a screw in type and was missing,so Pete pushed him 5 miles on the bar !!! i pissed myself laughing when they pulled up in the yard.
