wierd one this but..

more noticeable during warm up period after cold start I've got a chattering from behind the instrument cluster area. It seems to be coupled to the accelerator pedal, by just pressing lightly a click is heard and felt through the accel pedal and if I hold there it will start chattering away but it also causes the car to kangaroooo a bit. Any ideas it sounds to me like a dodgy relay but are there any relays or switches on the accelerator pedal???

thanx for any help/advice...

After putting back all that 'area' of stuff a month or so ago, i cant remember any relays, there is a switch for the curise cut off however. Try the simple one first & look for throttle cable obstructions or damage.

I hear the chattering relay too but the car seems to run fine. I thought it was some kind of voltage regulator relay for the instruments that picked up the changing volts when around tickover revs.

bugger 'tis getting worse, definatly linked to the throttle pedal as I can hear clicking on and off, when it chatters the car jerks as the revs rise and fall anymore ideas??

The Z has more sensors than u can shake a stick at and lots of them are interdependent. I'm sure there is a feed from the speedo mechanism and possibly rev counter too to engine management control, HICAS, cruise etc. Jerky accelerator could point to your throttle position sensor in the engine bay. Take off the connector and clean. I can't explain the chattering behind the dash however. Do a diagnostic check on the sensors.
