clutch??

what bhp are the standard clutch good for ????

Standard clutch is good for basic mods, induction, exhaust and decat.

People who have chipped their car have had the clutch go a few days later

Srrae - certainly know what he's talkin about - thanks for reminding me!!!!!!!!! and don't speak to Simon H, he's just a curse.

if you are not looking into big mods and you need a new clutch, just go for one form the states ie JWT street clutch or something along those lines because they cost almost the same as a stock clutch from nissan to start with, and it will hold most of the mods.

But anything over around 350-360 i think and youll start having problems. Clutch tends to go because of torque more than anything else.

Importing from the States can be a pain and with potentially problematic things like clutches then it is nice to have a local supplier. CenterForce (for example) can be good hardware, but if it goes wrong after 90 days (even 90 days sitting on a shelf in the garage) then you are screwed. Talk to the people who import clutches and see what they recommend, you'll find that they won't touch the ones that cost them money to support. I have had long conversations about clutches recently with both MJP and SE, both gave me the same story about stuff they simply couldn't aford to sell because they loose too much money on failures. Bear in mind that failures will need to be returned to the manufacturer or importer and if you are the importer .....

My car will be having one of the SE clutches that is assembled from a number of different parts from UK manufacturers. For me this seems to be the route with least potential hassle.

i have imported my clutch and it is guarenteed and came in less than 10 days no problem.

I think it depends on who you go through, but anything i have imported i have yet to have a problem.

Centreforce i would not touch again with a bargepole. If you could only see what my centerforce clutch looked like when it came of the car. frown.gif And absolutley no support from them.

how about mixing the clutch plate &a different clutch plat cover???

and if so any good surgestions ???? (brands)?

The ACT / RPS combination is a common hybrid clutch reading up on TT Net but lots of people have had problems and had to do lots of adjustment as there is some small difference in the thickness of the friction plates or something like that.

It could be very risky mixing parts cos its a big job if it has to come out again.

I found this one on TT net, I think I will send for it sometime

New RPS MAX CLUTCH (Rated @ 700 foot pounds of torque)

This Clutch is for cars with upgraded turbo's. The Guys with the BIG HP!

The pressure plate on this clutch has 700 pounds more clamping force then stock.

This Bad boy comes with a new clutch slave cylinder that has a smaller diameter piston to fully

release it.

The MAX Clutch also comes with either a street disc or 6 puck.

MAX CLUTCH STREET

List $535.oo

TT.NET Price $455

What about uprated friction plate and stock flywheel & pressure plate? Would that work effectively? Or has the stock pressure plate not got enough clamping force??

The stock pressure plate doesn't have the clamping force to hold the extra power when upgrading.

RPS, for example, on their first upgrade use a heavy duty pressure plate and stock organic disc which works well to around 400-450hp.
