theres not been a z32 in any drift event in the uk as far as im aware, there's a german z32 drift car, 2 in japan (there were more but they were wrecked) and a couple in the US i enjoy drifting but im fairly tired of the same old S body cars, s13, s14/a, s15, or gtst32/33/34, rps13, sil80's its been done to death, the 350z is widely used in the US so why not the 300? there's a few reasons i can see, pitiful lock to lock steering, weight and glass roofs are not in its favour but the power of a standard vg (which is enough and what semi pro Sbody SR's aim for) + a bit of a tweek, my NA shell and subframe, lock spacers and diff shims i think iv got a fairly good blue print for a drift car... well we'll soon see :)

more importantly it was a good laugh. ;D

yea i know what you mean i missed the bdc in sep up at knockhill last year but the only zed car iv seen is mark looney's 350 what a beast that is he done a couple of laps in 08 with the time attack boys and well lest say the scoobys and evo's n skylines were strugling to keep up.

would be good to see a 300 in the line ups for a change

Leon at Alunox has jigs for z32 cages, he did them ages ago but never had time to actually make the cages! They were going to be MSA/FIA approved so he should be able to help with that.

interesting......................:cool3:

I was doing my shake down at Silverstone on the same day. I was not a fan of drift but seeing it (and hearing it) in the flesh makes such a difference and I thought it was pretty exciting :)

100% respect to you for getting out there and having a go.

As Bob said we could see there was a "Drift School" or something going on but we were busy with Bobs own car on track.

Can you explain the tech bit??

Failed on lock???

Weight? Is there a minimum weight.

I was watching some Formula Drift in Long Beach on the telly last nite. It did look pretty exciting:cool3:

It was a licence day, those whopassed at pro/ semi pro were then eligable to compete in this years British drift championship.

I was told the driving was bdc standard however the car was not and held me back, the weight was an issue, it's fat ass + the lack of steering lock caused some shallow angles the power was good, the diff lt me down in the tight technical parts a few times nothing the hydrolic handbrake couldn't fix but an unnecisary hinderence non the less, I saw a White zed go round he track looked and sounded awesom!

sorry to hijack thread but what type of spoiler is that on this car? ive seen it on a few and was thinking about getting one.

It suites the veilside skirts (i think) it's the low level version of the high rise spoiler available off that uk z parts website

Yep that was Bobgenie.

Maybe you could be a bit more aggressive with your weight loss program.

I can see......foglights. Ditch them.Put a sidelight bulb in indicators

I can see......J spec electric folding mirrors.... Ditch them in favor of some lightweight ABS plastic ones

Have you removed ALL the floor sound deadening. It weighs a lot.

have you removed all the heater. blower and aircon inside?? replace with light weight kit car unit. Or even better a plug in electic blower to demist with.

Have you seeen Silver Bullets Polycarb window thread. That means you can ditch the heavy glass and all the motors n stuff.

Maybe a lightweight Carbon fibre tailgate is over your budget but a good compromise is to remove the glass and all the inner metal and bond a light weight poly carb sheet in place of the glass.

Same with side 3/4 windows.

And what about some replacement Targa panels. Maybe in reinforced fibreglass. Bonded in perhaps.

your cage is going to replace any lost rigidity. unfortunately its going to add a lotta weight too. So get one in T45 for best strength/weight

Losing weight is all about detail. Every 500gm counts.

red is done, iv lost all aircon bits, and all the sound deadening crap, egr, air pumps and a few other bits and bobs, custom cages make a half cage for the 2+2 so im getting them to do a full 6 point through the dash jobbie, windows would be a good start wheres that thread?

iv sorted the steering lock out...

which has made a massive difference to drifting and parking!!! and it got 40p, no other modifications required either!!

Yep thats a "family" version for sure.

I can spot them a mile off.....Then I run away:innocent:

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I suppose the slicktop wheelbase is too short tho for successful drifting?

although possible with rack spacers... iv drifted a MR2 turbo but like the swb 300's they spin allll the time too
