The mobile camera vans.....Im pretty sure they cant get a reading on speed if they are mobile, is this true?

Many Thanks,

Hollings.

I'd say so as they require an officer to be sat at the camera to aim it at your car which they couldnt do while mobile. I may be wrong though

i would imagine they have to be stationary as you sometimes see the operative sitting in the back of them, unlike the cameras in the cop cars, which can record speed on the move

beat me to it :D

Was it checking speed for sure as could of been one for mot/insurance/tax etc?.... but as said i think the camera is only in use when parked and was probaly driving to a location to set up

i think as well they use the same locations all the time as measurements would have to be taken of the road and assessment paperwork filled out otherwise they cant use the site. I dont think they can just park up anywhere and start shooting though may be wrong

Yeah, thats what im hoping anyway, but i know speed camera's are not accurate enough to take a picture with them moving...well again thats what im hoping!

Mmmmmm, how would explain it when a moving patrol car books you for speeding?

I certainly don't know for sure but I wouldn't say no definitely.... :(

Wasnt a patrol car, was one of the vans with the camera in the back, he was also driving towards me. :surrender:

Don't think so, the camera would give a false reading if they were moving, it would be argued that it was picking up their speed not yours.................

:ohmy:i was on my yamaha one day, passed one of those mobile vans, couple of corners later a copper pulled me over and said my collegue in that mobile back there clocked me at wotever it was and i got *****cking for speeding
