Im still trying to get to the bottom of my high idle (1000 rpm) so i thought i would remove the IAA valve and give it a good clean and tbh it was quite carboned up. i noticed the adjustment screw was on half "in & out" as in pic, is this normal for a 93 TT manual?

 

On a long run say 100 miles the car idles perfect but round town and only say 25 miles is always high..

 

I dont know if cleaning the IAA has worked yet but will test at weekend.

did you disconnect the battery to let the ecu clear ?

 

mine did this but it did settle after a while.

 

another idea have you ever replaced the water temp sensor? might be sending the wrong signal to the ecu and its still running warm up settings hence increased idle

hi mate, the temp sensor is "quite" new ive been told and has been changed before as for a 93 plate it should be red and mine is blue.. i suppose it wouldnt hurt to change it again though?

dont change it just yet there should be voltages which you can test at certain temps to check it before forking out for another.

i thought this was normal mine always idels about 1000 or so 900 when warm but sumtimes higher like 1100 seems to change here and there

mine idles at 1100 cold and 700-750 warm

I had mare with my high idle for ages tried everything .In the end tracked it down to tps plug connection .try wiggleing the tps plug and see if the idle drops.

Clean the connector of the idle switch on the bottom of the TPS ;)
