Need to pick ya brains

I have a Nissan Almera Tino 1.8 PETROL (dont ask, long story lol)

Its going in p/x at the end of March/start of april when I get me new car. It

needs oil badly and I have lots of fully synthetic DIESEL engine oil, can I use it??

Will it kill it before i can get rid? ;)

Cheers in advance :helpsmilie:

well it wont kill it but wont do it any favours in the long run. but i suppose if your getting rid soon then its your choice. personally just knowing that some inicent person could buy it again then it might die on them costing them loads and potentially ruining things for them. not sure i could do it. lol.

aye thats a good point, never thought of that, I couldnt do it if its gonna do serious damage. so its really really bad for the engine then??

i accidentally picked up the wrong oil once in a garage when my low oil alarm went off on my golf GTI and i needed to get it home. didn't realise until 6 months later that i had actually got diesel oil for it, ran fine. but changed it soon as i realised.

If you do do it. change the oil for the proper stuff before you sell it. but be aware, there is no telling what damage you will cause the engine in the processes.

Do the right thing mate, if there is a chance of it doing permanent harm and you do it knowingly just before you sell it that's pretty poor behaviour dude. Get the cheapest 'proper' oil you can. Then sit back and wait for the positive Karma.

Going to get proper petrol oil tomorrow. Wasnt trying to be sneaky. I have a 2 yr old with Leukaemia and 2 other kids, and one on the way and not a lot of cash, so was tryin to save a bob or 2 using what I had. I understand if it made me look bad, but it honestly was not my intention...

Thanks for all your replies

That wasn't the impression it gave mate. You were obviously asking as to avoid any future problem occurring. It would of been easy to plead ignorance by not asking the question. Fair play to you.
