Must be hard for you not to do, ya ugly bugger.

But truth be told, the only reason its 7 years bad luck for a broken mirror is because back in the 17th and 18th century, if a maid of the manor, broke a mirror it would take 7 years of wages to replace it. hence the comment "its 7 years bad luck if you break a mirror"

have to tell you the number to avoid is 616.

In May 2005, it was reported that scholars at Oxford University using advanced imaging techniques had been able to read previously illegible portions of a manuscript which stated 616 instead of the majority of texts which state 666.[9] However, the existence of manuscripts attesting to 616 has been known long before this finding, the other early witness Codex Ephraemi Rescriptus © has it written in full: ἑξακόσιοι δέκα ἕξ, hexakosiai deka hex (lit. "six hundred sixteen").[10] This, along with the translation of P115, has led some scholars to conclude that 616 is the original number of the beast.[11]

The NRSV translation for Rev 13:18 includes this translation note: "Other ancient authorities read six hundred and sixteen".

Almost, it's: -

1 for sorrow

2 for joy

3 for a girl

4 for a boy

5 for silver

6 for gold

7 for a secret never to be told

Thats the way it used to come on the TV series magpie.

I was always taught that if you see a single magpie, just say to yourself "good morning Mr. Magpie, how's the wife and family today". That should stop any bad luck, but with a 666 number plate what do I know.....lol

I remember something like that as well......

.....but I don't give a hoot and ignore them! Because Julia won't let me have a gun; otherwise I'd definitely shoot them.......:whistling:

Richard:cool3:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I thought is came from the Roman belief that the reflection was of your sole and Roman's believed that a person's health and fortune changed every seven years. So would be another seven years until they could all align again if you broke a mirror?

You appear to be correct.

I am now trying to find where i heard the explanation i hear. but i didn't get it from the web, so not sure if ill find it on the web. unless its a common misconception.

Would be interesting if they are both available as to what one is correct.
