TPS - Help

Connected thin wire to middle connector, and with ignition on, checked voltage....

8.3v.

Ok, so loosened bolts and moved tps. When rotating anti-clockwise, the reading jumped to 12v. Moving back, and it jumps back to 8.3v. No in-between!

Both tps connectors look clean.

Any ideas??? Knackered TPS????

I'm no expert on this one, but isn't it CLOCKWISE and 4v to 4.5.

Not expensive to buy though

Did you measure at the right connector?

The supply voltage to the TPS is 5V, so you should not be able to get any higher reading.

It's the connector on the wire, not on the TPS body, that you should measure at.

Measure between the middle connector and the chassis ground (or battery (-) pole).

mine has also started to run fast idle 1800rpm never dropping back any lower.

done a voltage check today, running 9.73v when turning clockwise it goes to 13.08v no in between, turned off engine switched ignition to on so lights lit on dash but not running, loosened screws moved fully in both directions 9.71v lowest reading and 13.08.v highest, there is no gradual increase from 9 to 13 either, it is one or the other

i took reading by pushing live into tps middle wire just before black box, and black to earth. using a digi meter

my tps only has two wires going into it is this normal.

northern monkey have you sorted yours out yet

dont take the reading from the actual TPS, take the reading from the white wire that goes to the tps in big grey connector middle one. sounds as you were taking reading from the same place as me NM, this cured my problem.
