Thanks for the tip Vijay :o)

Ok well, to all who take a look at this thread... I live in Newquay (Cornwall) and haven't been able to find a garage willing to look at my Z without ripping me off. I know diddly about mechanics so need to take it somewhere that won't make a hash of things. Anyone know of anywhere reputable?

cheers

there are a couple of others

Darren, and the dealer he works for obviously, and Arriva Nissan in Peterborough, and one or two others have got good reps from people here, but noone has said anything about anyone in your area, sorry.

may be worth a trip when you want a lot of work done....

I know it's not near you, but I've been ripped off by local Nissan garages for the past 2 1/2 years. Thanks to certain people on this site I was directed to Darren who is in Kent. It takes me about 1 1/2 hours to get to him, but he seems to give a f**k! I have about 4 Nissan garages within a short distance to me, but wouldn't think twice about using Darren. As Craig said it may be worth the trip.

Darren, who's Darren ?!?!?!?

Now I know who Darren is, I am a little bit concerned. I got him to look over my 300 NT and he gave me a list as long as your arm including : judder under acceleration, noise from rear left wheel bearing and harsh ride. All of which would need investigation and would cost ....(sucking in of air thru teeth, wincing and scratching of head). SE gave me a clean bill of health. They advised rotation or replacement of tyres for the ride and judder and tightening the bonnet lock for the "wheel bearing noise". I took SE's advice and now have a much smoother motor that does not think its a mouse. Just saying is all.....

lol now this is funny as i have heard greta things aboput darren and having spoken to him he really knows his stuff and i dont think ill use anyone else, But SE now here is a bit of controversy, i had some seriously bad experience with them and am yet to be convinced they are any good (although Pete R seems to be going out of his way to sort things out there) so i guess its down to personal experience, i would go wiht darren myself

Let face it....

Darren is a Nissan technician who knows what he's doing and he doesn't claim to be able to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear!

If your Z has faults that need rectified then Darren would tell you up front.

I'm surprised you've portrayed him like you have.

You are right Steve, when I spoke to Darren he certainly seemed to know what he was on about!. I described the problems I had with my Zed and he give me a whole list of things to check. After going through them the car is running much better. IMHO its his job to tell a customer if something is shagged out on their car, like it or not!!

Ok, last comment on the subject as I don't want to annoy y'all but my car did get returned to me minus it's Gear Knob which was lying rather forlornly on the passenger seat.....Despite this, I will probably give Darren another try as I am a lazy sod who does not want to drive all the way to SE for every slightest thing....Thanks for listening !!!
