Anyone know how to change the reversing switch?

The reversing switch on my Manual TT is failing more than it works, my mechanic did order a new one and tried in vein to get behind the gearbox and get it off, but couldn't. He is a good mechanic but doesn't know the 300 that well, so, do I need to take the gearbox off? Remove the cowling over the transmission tunnel? Help please? lol:oops:

Ok this is not easy with the gearbox in as it is recessed, also it largely depends upon what exhaust you have fitted, its worth lowering the gearbox a few inches to help access.

The old switch cables can be cut off flush and a deep socket then will fit and undo the switch, of course the new switch cannot have the cables cutt off so tighten in by hand and then with a crow foot spanner it can be nipped up.

Expect it to be time consuming and fiddly, not a nice job on the floor, much better on a 2post ramp.

Good luck

I knew you were going to say something like that, he's had it on a two post ramp and has done all sorts to get to it, it has a very big exhaust on it (Not put on by me but I do like it) and is lowered on coilovers, so I'm guessing it's not coming off soon. FFS. Oh well!
