how does the Royal Mail van come into this?

Postman Pat is legally allowed to go through a set of red traffic lights.....:scooter:

If a royal mail van goes through a red light and hits another car is it not his fault

Technically if you observe the law, then no. I very much doubt it would ever happen though. It just stems back to the days when they used to say the mail must go through.

Wheras an emergency vehicle travelling through a red light causing an RTC would be in the wrong, therefore it cannot possibly be legal for an emergency vehicle to drive through red lights.

The Act states that the Law of stopping at Red traffic lights does not apply to emergency vehicles if it hinders the vehicle in an emergency callout, and that instead they must legally treat it as a Give way.

The emergency vehicle is at fault in the event of such an RTA becuase they must treat it as a give way. Any vehicle that crosses through a give way and hits another vehicle is at fault. Thats how Give ways work.

If a baby was born on an aircraft, and that aircraft was right over the border of two different countries, what nationality would the baby be?..........:devil2:

There seems to be a confusion about what you two are arguing about. From reading all this it seems to me that you are arguing over two categories, when there are in fact three:

1. Royal Mail vehicals have Right of way through red lights

2. emergency vehicals are legally allowed to drive through a red light, but don't have 'Right of way'

3. and everyone else is simply not legally allowed to go through a red light full stop

There seems to be confusion between simply driving through the red light, and having 'right of way' through it, which are quite different!

it would be the property of Easyjet!

I said what nationality would the baby be, not who would own it.......lol...

British, the jet was flying from Scotland to England.

Failing that then surely it would be either The nationality of the parents OR The Country the plan took off from?

I dont think they would let anyone that far gone fly?? :)

Damn, hadn't thought of that! They don't let pregnant women fly if they are near, do they.

I'm not arguing, life is too short to argue, I am only suggesting that if an emergency vehicle goes through a red light and is involved in a RTC, then it's their fault, which suggests to me that it cannot be legal for the said emergency vehicle to cross a red light., if it was legal, then if they were involved in a RTC then it would not be their fault. I sincerly apologise to anyone if I have come across as arguing........Too happy to argue.......:tt2::tt2:

Can someone please show me the law that states royal mail vans are allowed to pass through red lights

Car.Mad, that's exactly it, it was the Kings or Queens mail, so it was not allowed to be held up by anyone or anything, and the law has never changed, I realise some of the laws in this country are way out of date and need reforming now, but this for now is still the law........:detective:
