love audacity. you could swap to soundwave if you have thirteen more hours in the day to make proper use of it.;)

I've noticed a lot more 'extras' are avilable on firefox than IE8 (if you want those extras). but they all run sameish speed these days I'm informed so....

The browser is just personal choice, I use Firefox, but Chrome is very popular and Opera has quite a lot of devotees these days.

I recommend Avast over the other AV packages, although Microsoft Security Essentials is also free and pretty good.

Firewall wise, I recommend Comodo.

gotta be chrome!!!!!! by a long way! other free bits are google earth, ccleaner, space sniffer, im using avira antivirus now, but only because its good for 64 bit. AVG is a good one so long as you disable the daily scans! spybot s&d, Mbam and adaware are good antimal progs. deamon tools lite is a good virtual drive manager too

i not sure that an antivirus program is needed these days, i dont think ide bother with one if i didnt download so much dodgy crap lol

AVG for security here matey, very good and does not slow ur system down like Norton....

Al.

firefox (or mozzerella firebox as my daughter called it) and always used avg anti virus.

talking of security.......... my mum phoned earlier and said some1 saying they were from microsoft called her and said they needed access to her pc, thank god she had the sense to say NO!

I use Firefox as my browser, it's good but can take an age when first firing up. For AV I use Eset NOD4 it's the best there is, end of..

I also use Ad aware and spybot for adware etc...

i use AVG, spybot and a program called clean my registry seem to work well :)

I use firefox as browser but it does keep freezing on me and i see it is using a lot of memory to run it

I use AVG AV and Firewall and Firefox browser on Vista and don't have any issues

a friend of mine had this the other day, but he got the number so i phoned him back and askedhim to return my call. had him on the phone for about 2 hours telling me how my system was at risk, making up all sorts of nonsensical threats about my mother system failing and even setting fire to my house!!!! after the 2 hours they wanted to send an engineer round to my address (for free, but wouldbe billed if they find a fault), but now thescary bit, i said "im afraid im not allowed anyone else in the house when my mummy is away, as im only 12!" to which they replied something like "dont worry, he wont be there long, you only need to be there to open the door Your mum will never know weve been!!!

sounds a bit rapey to me!!!!!
