Yesterday while coming back for a meal with my lovley girlfriend, I went around a mini roundabout, you now the ones where you are at close to full lock to get round. Half way round I must have hit a pot hole hidden by the shit, lights of the Z. It made a huge bang.

I didnt think much of it.

But today going down the motorway and when I reach about at about 50 the car started to vibrate and got worse as I got faster. Let go of the steering wheel and the wheel moved from side to side very quickly.

It maybe road surface cos I was watching other peoples cars suspention working over time on the motorway and you notice badly lay road surfaces with hard suspention.

But could the pot hole caused any any damage. Of so what type. I have been told to get my wheels balanced again.

check visually on tyre walls first for lumps may have damaged sidewalls, especially on inners.

could be tyre damage.. or could be youve lost a balacing weight off one of your wheels, might be worth getting them balanced

yip sounds like a bad tyre m8!

It could be a couple of things:

1. tyre damage : remove the wheel and inspect the tyre carefully

2. Rim damage and resultant balancing problems: Get the wheel checked for its balancing. Most tyre people wont charge you if the balancing is OK on the machine already

3. Tracking out : the bump could have knocked out your tracking making he tyre toe in : get the tracking checked out a local tyre place (probably cost about 15 quid to check and adjust)

4. Shock absorber or suspension problem: Bounce the car to make sure the shock is Ok and visually inspect the suspension to make sure all is well and the spring hasn't slipped or the shock is not leaking.

5. Wheel nuts / spacers : check the torque of your wheel nuts and make sure any spacers are correctly seated and not loose.

6. Tyre pressure discrepancy: check the tyre pressures to make sure they are correct and even.

Best of luck mate, hope the problem gets sorted

Amer.

Note the place and time and submit a claim if your wheel or tyre is damaged.

I did it here and got a new wheel and 50% tyre wear paid for - took 6 months though and 3 letters.

Stuart,

I've done this is in two of my Zeds - both of which have been fitted with Antera's and low profile tyres - buckled the wheel basically.

It could be repairable at a specialist alloy wheel repair centre - I have a number if you want to mail me. They pick up on a Friday - deliver it back on a Tuesday - or vice versa!

Take it to a tyre fitter, and put it on a balance machine, you will soon know.
