Went to look at a Z last night which would have fitted well in my project plans and was a good price as the owner was moving away.

It was over 200 miles away and the only thing I didnt know about was if there was any rust, so all I could have done was ask repeatedly over the phone and email if there was any rust. The answer every time was just over right rear arch and he emphasised that it was a very little bit. Other than that its very good condition and viewing highly recommended.

Armed with that info me and the mrs set off in her polo for an 8 hour round trip. When I got there yeah, the Z looked and sounded nice but the first place I went was the right rear arch. Big patches at the front and rear of the arch. :taz:

I was a bit taken back by this and voiced my opinions straight away, but if that was the extent then I could have bartered the price down. However i got on my hands and knees... both outer sills had 3-4" holes in! f**king t*sser. I offered a rock bottom price as at the very least after the MOT expired it could have been broken, which he declined saying that he had lots of people coming at the weekend to look. A lot of disappointed people I should imagine, unless they dont know what they are looking for and just see the arch. :death:

Anyway needless to say I left it at that, but took it out for a spin so at least I've got an idea how well NA's go, and they aren't as bad as I thought.

May have a TT to look at this weekend but waiting on honest answers from the seller first, lets hope its a good'un :sweatdrop:

rant over lol

He obviously didn't know you knew your Z's and could fool you ;)

I think NA's are really nice to drive, think the only real noticable difference would be on motorways

Absolute tosser Baz:thumbdown:!! They must think people are stupid, you should of asked for some fuel money for wasting your time, The right one will come along soon, good things come to those who wait

Hi Baz,

Any chance you can share who the seller is? Reason is I'm heading over to buy a Zed from Germany. Don't want to get stung like you did.

Cheers buddy, Rob

i would say that n/a's are excellent if you want the look and performance of a zed on the road, but dont need the top end racing performance. they are cheaper on fuel, cost a bit less insurance, and they dont surprise you on the bends if your foot gets itchy ;)

and there was me thinking someone had told you that you were good looking and then went and had a look in the mirror!! :D ;)

This looks a nice example! Cheap as well.

:slap: go back to sleep :tt2:

You must be gutted to drive all that way to see an undisclosed shed. A few years ago I drove down to a dealers in Southampton to collect an IS200 Lexus. It looked good on the advert, and I spoke to the dealer numerous times. I was on the understanding that the low price was a reflection of the high miles. So I insured it, and paid a deposit, then drove down there to find a car without a straight panel on it. What a mess it was, I could have punched him I was that p*ssed.

Sorry to hear that Baz - I really hate it when you do all you can to ask a direct question and get dicked about.....

That looked a tidy car from the pics as well - so I can understand your frustration.

When I bought my blue Z from PhilP, he knew that I'd be travelling almost 500 miles on the round trip to view and collect - so he made sure to emphasize the bad points of the car in every e-mail and conversation we had; just so I wasn't disappointed or wasted my time in visiting.

Needless to say in my case, Phil actually undersold the car; pointing out any negative issue no matter how minor - but there was fundamentally nothing wrong with it. I guess I was lucky to have dealt with an honest, sound guy.

Keep hunting mate - there are some good ones out there; with honest and genuine sellers.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thanks Richard, yeah I'm still on the lookout, got one in mind but may see what pops up soon. A reliable seller is what I need!
