Hi Guys, been a while since i posted - the zeds been staring at me from the drive for ages, but not been able to get on with any jobs due to various life stuff....happily, i am now able to get started!

anyway - i have a question about NA rear subframes - im sure i read somewhere that it was a good mod to fit the NA rear frame / half shafts / hubs etc in place of the TT assy - removes the hicas, comes with the 4.08 ratio diff etc etc

Is this a good idea - has anyone done it?

Is there anything else thats useful from an NA model when tuning a tt swb manual?

cheers guys!

Just done this exact mod, you will need a hybrid propshaft as the diff connection is 4 bolt on the n/a diff rather than 6 bolts on the TT, we usually make up one piece ones and seam weld the flanges and rebalance

Ive got an N/A rear axle on mine. I was asking lots of questions about why i had no hicas at the back, and this helpful forum told me that its a good mod, quicker acceleration, no hicas, and a lower top end.

this mod is a good one for those wanting a more snappy response from the loud pedal

ive heard it makes a world of difference to in gear acceleration ...i have never used or probably ever will use 170+ mph anyway so would be happy to see the wrong side of 150

ive gone with the leader gear set which retains the TT drive shafts and diff housing and prop ..the hicas is being removed with a DW hicas bar not sure of teh ratio's on the leader set but think its somewhere near the NA ratio....ive heard of peole nearly being caught out on the motorway etc as the car responds much quicker and can be where your not expecting it to be very quickly....

I haven't heard many good things re an alloy driveshafts on a TT. Too much torque for it to stay in one piece
