Hey, I'm having a very big arguement with someone and they say that a mate of theirs has a 300ZX that can do low 9's. I've never seen this before and wanted to know if it was possible and what sort of money would it take to get it to that level of performance.

Please respond with any info possible ASAP.

6 - 7 sec 0-60 is about normal for a stock 300ZX TT, top at 160mph+.

 

If you're on about quarter mile or 0-100 times, can't help you.

You must be talking about 1/4 mile times.

Standard Zed will do it in 13.5 to 14 secs with 300 bhp. You need approx 400 bhp plus to get in the 12s. 600 bhp might get you in the low 11s. to do 9 second passes you need at least 850 to 1000bhp, to get that power you need to spend at least 20k on engine mods alone, then further money on uprating the gearbox,clutch,rear axle, tyres, wheels.

I think the cars owned by SGP run low 10's according to their website.

14 - 15 stock and in good nick with a driver who knows what he / she's doing!

Wonder what engine is in that...vg30dett? its a funny car too...so nothing standard...and fibreglass body - with top fuel chassis underneath. Never mind eh.

There is a lunatic in japan that does low 9s in his 'daily driver' 300zx which is the vg30dett engine. I think he's pushing out about 900bhp and has a sequential 'box.

The 300 isn't really a very good 1/4mile car, rear wheel drive and too much weight see to that. The skyline is better at that sort of thing.

If you are only doing 15s in a stock z32 turbo, your car ain't running right. All the road tests I've seen for the z32 have 1/4 mile times from the high 13s to low 14s.

Shit I remember in my modded 300 bhp z31 I was doing high 14s all day long, got the timing slips from Santa pod to prove it.

I'll be in Santa Pod in Late march with my z32tt, to get some times in.
