Power Steering Pump

Hi all

I just found out that the reason that my HICAS light is on, is not the amount of fluid, but that the pump is not working.

They guy saud they cost about 400 notes just for the pump

Is that correct?

Also, how much would it cost to fit it

Thanks

Matt

Hmm.. are you sure your PS pump isn't working? your steering will be *really* heavy without PS...

It does not feel like it would if there was no fluid what so ever, but I can hear it making a soft grinding noise when I turn the wheel while stationary.

But it looks like the levels are fine, so maybe not a pump, maybe a blackage perhaps, are there any ways of flushing the system at all and it not costing me a fortune, or is it all housed away out of easy reach

Hi all.

The stearing is really starting to worry me now.

Its not any harder to move, but the sound it makes is rather worrying.

Anyone know where is best to take it?

some thoughts...

Have u checked your reservoir level/ Is the level going down, u may have a fluid leak out of one of the fluid lines/connections.. Noise may be air getting into pump system.

Are u sure the noise is not the PS pulley belt slipping. is it tight enuff.

i suppose you do not have a low/flat tyre causing the steering pump to overwork?

Thanks for that.

However, i have no idea what it means.

Does anyone know where the best place to take it would be in Staffordshire. Or should I just take it to Nissan and tell them to get it sorted?
