I've had a look around my usual sources of guides but no joy! Is there a guide on removing/replacing the starter motor on a TT Manual Zed?

I've been getting a bit of a grinding noise now and agan and I need to rule out the actual motor and hope it's not flywheel related :/

Any help would be appreciated as always :)

could simply be a loose bolt holding the starter motor or possibly a stripped thread which you could tap out to the next size up

had the same prob with mine bud although its an na auto took off starter and three teeth were munched on the ring gear..... replaced starter and havent had no prob since with the same ring gear suppose the strenth of the coil on the new motor is pushing the dog a little further but am sure the problem will reappear....take it off and have a squint is the only way youll tell....

As Vijay said.......... check for loose connecting wires, had this on my 300 sometime ago. Sounded like the starter whirring over and not connecting to the engine. Turned out to be a bad earth connection from the starter motor, once connected securely, all was fine and has been to this date. HTH......

Alz.

There's a bolt and a stud holdong it on and they can come loose. The first you know is graunchy starts if you are lucky and the second is it falling partly out and breaking the mounting flange. Get under with spanners asap.
