I believe the correct amount of diff oil for europe models is 2.1 litres. However, there is probably about 2.5 litres in mins, did it with diff off car and turned on side... does it matter that there is extra fluid in there?

 

Sorry for no brainer question im sure - just a bit paranoid because I have spent ages getting the old one off and want to make sure every thing is ok!

Shouldn't be a problem. If it's too much it will come out the breather

If your really that bothered, when you've refitted the diff just undo the level plug & drain the excess oil out.

 

Personally for 0.4 of a litre I wouldn't bother.

Thanks for the replies - I am ok with general car bits i.e getting the diff on and off but the inside of the diff confuses the hell out of me!
