cant think of any other cars in the same leage and price rang

Merc clk without doubt

Look nicer, built better, even though they are both German lol, better resale value

bmw, but i would go for the 330

 

as for why, its cause i have an e46 m3 vert so a little bias lol

but are they bilt better?

older mercs suffered with body rot, the panels used to rot from inside out, not sure if it was model specific though, im sure paulc will see this and comment

definatly the bmw, had many of these and all have been awesome, the bmw community is massive so no worried regarding parts or mods. imo. merc is heavier and slower too. most are auto and bmws are manual, great for those ass out moments.

BMW E46 fantastic motors and very well built and have loads of toys, The one to go for is the 330D best engine except for the m3 lol!!!

 

Loads of power and get easy get 55mpg and 60+ on a run, amazing car :yes:

lol so true, so how would a 330 bmw compare to my zx twin turbo as i see the 330's are meant to be really quick

Seriously tho - the CLK's are pretty good apart from corrosion - if you do go to look at one check all 4 wheel arches & around the boot lock.

 

Mechanically they are pretty good if looked after.

so if i sold my 300zx twin turbo manual and bought a e36 m3 what would be quicker?

Only way to know is to drive them both. I'd vote the BMW as it is quicker and will most likely be a better drive.

Just sold a CLK 230 Kompressor, 63k miles for £3k. Cruised well but wobbled a lot at speed. Mates got a 200 Kompressor auto and its slower than my deisel Insignia, and corners worse. Did use to get 32mpg though.

an M3 isnt gonna be quicker than a TT ZED, i raced a few M3's both models and was never beat and although the M3 is quick its not as quick as a zed, it does have a completely different power delivery, rather than the boost of the turbo the M3 is qucik from the start, drives completely different

Mercs are comfortable and very dependable , over engineered , but not as nice ..for that class of vehicle the BMW is a nice option

M3 evolution stats look much much quicker than a 300zx, will ley you know in a few weeks if i get an e36 m3 evo, either that or im getting A 330CI

Or a BMW 540.

4.4 manual v8, supremely stable, fairly quick, cruises at whatever speed.Worst ive had is 18mpg, best was 23, (long runs are easy high 20's, + I do a lot of short hops in town too) but I didnt buy it for economy...

had an e36 m3 evo myself, amazing car. would have a clean one over a clean Z anyday, superiour power looks handling, and if u care, MUCH better fuel economy :-)

 

the best one is Estorial blue, 2dr with rainbow spoiler... :-)
