10K Boost

I bought some of this stuff to give my oil burner a de-coke but I see they also do a petrol version. So I was wondering if anybody has put a can through their zed, and if so what were the results?

Personally I'd not bother mate.....

.....I'm not a fan of any kind of additive. For the simple reason that the oil/petrochemical industry spends 000,000s of pounds on research and development each year; so if something was actually that good, then it would already be included in Shell/BP/Esso/Mobil et all's finest, straight out of the box!

Sure, sometimes a good injector cleaner used once in a while might make a bit of a difference. But then using a good quality fuel with detergents already added will keep things running properly. Likewise with oil - one good flush every so often is fine. But is you use a premium synthetic at each oil change then you won't have to bother with additives at all. Save your money mate.....:whistling:

These products are big in America simply because the Yanks fall for the marketing hype. Just my opinion BTW - but I bet I'm not alone!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

if its the stuff im thinking then its not an additive, you spray it in your intake and it supposedly clears and decokes the car

but after so long of coking im not sure i would like to clear it as it may cause more probs than cure, like valve seals and so on

your not alone mate :) That additive stuff is also aimed at boy racers, thinking they can get and extra 100 BHP out of the 1.1 fiesta populars for a fiver :) I do use the occasional engine flush, and have used injector cleaner once ages ago and it didn't do anything noticeable, still had to clean them myself...

I know what your saying mate, but this stuff is essentially carb cleaner and I've read lots of good things about it, mainly for cleaning crap out of diesel engines. You spray it in the air intake after the MAF and it blows the crud out the exhaust. So it's more of a treatment than an additive.

probably blow the heater matrix as well, even though it's not touching it! lol

i used it once on my golf and didnt know what a maf was, removed the airfilter and squirted it in, fooked the maf lol, my mate used it in his mk3 cav gsi, started burning oil a few weeks later, maybe coincidence who knows?

Doh! I'm going to put it through my diesel Veccy.

Aahh I see - in that case I reckon you can't go wrong with a normal carb cleaner!

Giving the throttle bodies a clean is always a good thing; spray the cleaner into the TBs, have a good dig around with an old toothbrush and watch the crud pour out onto carefully placed kitchen roll at the front. But IIRC all the crap sometimes congregates somewhere at the rear of the inlet manifold (it could be the idle control valve). So you also have to clean that as well.

And then the ECU needs to re-learn its settings as the car may run like shite straight afterwards. You can re-set it by disconnecting the battery for an hour or so; or just take it for a long drive!

its not for throttle bodies either, you have to have the car running and you spray a full can into the air intake, it cleans the whole of the inside of the engine where ever air would go the boost cleaner will go

i would steer well clear of it
